February 28, 1946 — March 13, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Carolann Russo, who departed this world on March 13, 2026, at the age of 80. Carolann passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion. Born on February 28, 1946, in the bustling heart of Manhattan, NY, Carolann was the cherished daughter of the late James R. and Eleanor (Dunn) Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings—James R. Simmons, Jr., John Simmons, Judith Simmons-Curcio, and David Simmons—and her beloved grandson, Brian Russo. A bright and spirited soul, Carolann graduated from Sterling High School in Somerdale, NJ, in 1964. It was there she met her lifelong partner and high school sweetheart, Thomas A. Russo, Sr., with whom she shared a profound and enduring love. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising five children: Claire Mayone (Greg) of Raleigh, NC; Julianne Russo (Kevin Van Deursen) of Bethlehem, PA; Thomas A. Russo, Jr. (Stacey) of New Tripoli, PA; James G. Russo of Fountain Hill, PA; and Maria Russo – Diaz (fiancé Robert Burkart) of Richlandtown, PA. Carolann’s career as an administrative assistant at the Bethlehem Parking Authority was marked by dedication and professionalism, and her work there was deeply valued until her retirement in 2000. Beyond her professional life, Carolann was a devoted Christian Catholic who lived her faith with grace and humility. She was known for her kind, caring spirit and a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew her. Cooking was one of Carolann’s great joys, and she was renowned for her adventurous spirit in the kitchen, always eager to try new recipes for her family. Her love of history and traveling frequently drew her back to her cherished Manhattan, where her heart always remained. Carolann’s warmth and kindness extended not only to her family but also to her community. She is survived by her adoring husband, Thomas A. Russo, Sr., and her siblings Susan McAvoy (Daniel) of NJ and Carrie Simmons of OR. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren—Thomas A. Russo III, Michael Mayone, Ashley Mayone, David Potvin, Antonio Diaz, Noah Russo, Zachory Russo, Alicia Russo—and two great-grandchildren, Joseph Mayone and Lucy Mayone, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In honor of Carolann’s life, the family encourages donations to the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association at https://www.4hcm.org, an organization close to their hearts. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Cedarbrook Fountain Hill for the compassionate care they provided to Carolann in her final days. Her memory will forever be a guiding light to those who knew and loved her, and her spirit will continue to inspire kindness and joy in all our lives. May Carolann rest in eternal peace, her gentle soul forever cradled in love.
