Carol Sue Shoulders

Carol Sue Shoulders, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 12:26am September 25, 2026. Born on December 26, 1947, in Logansport, Indiana, Carol was a beacon of love and compassion throughout her life. Carol was the cherished daughter of Donna and Harold Hosler, who have preeceased her, along with her son Gregery Allen Barlow, her first husband Russel Richard Seats, and her grandparents Albert Elvin and Cloe Boehme Dilling. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted spouse, James Douglas Shoulders, whom she married on May 25, 2026, in Sterling, Michigan. Carol's legacy continues through her sons, Steve and Niki Barlow of Portage, Michigan, and Brad and Linda Barlow of Logansport, Indiana. Her family includes eight grandchildren and an impressive 32 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. A graduate of Logansport High School, Carol furthered her education at Ivy Tech Community College and Indiana University. Her career in social services with the state of Indiana spanned over two decades, during which she dedicated herself to helping those with mental and physical challenges at the Woodlawn Center in Logansport. Her professional life reflected her deep-seated commitment to serving others, a trait she carried into her personal life. Carol was an active member of the Helm Street Church of God in Logansport and took great pride in her association with the Delta Chi Sigma sorority. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for camping and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Known for her big heart, Carol was always the first to offer help to those in need, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. The family will hold a private ceremony to celebrate Carol's life. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request that donations be made to Gift of Life Michigan, an organization that reflects Carol's lifelong dedication to giving and support. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Centrica Hospice and the doctors and staff at Beacon Hospital in Kalamazoo for their unwavering love and support during this difficult time. Carol Sue Shoulders will be dearly missed, but her spirit of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.
