Carol Joyce McCarty

Carol Joyce McCarty, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 95, after a short illness. Born on March 15, 1931, at home at Salem, Ohio, Carol was the cherished daughter of Clyde and Eva Weldy. Carol was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Charles Sr., her son Timothy, and her siblings Kermit, Richard, Cecil, Robert, Maynard, Clyde Jr., Evelyn, and Marjorie. She is survived by her children Charles Jr., Kathy, Shelley, Ann, Penny, Bonnie, and Lori, Carol's legacy extends to her 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. A graduate of Congress High School, Carol remained connected to her roots, often attending school reunions and cherishing the memories of her youth. Her professional journey led her to a career at F. E. Myers, where she dedicated 35 years of service. Carol's commitment to her community was evident through her volunteer work at the Ashland Senior Center, where she was honored as Ashland Senior Citizen of the Year in August 2005. She also shared her passion for flowers as a volunteer at Kingwood Center and was a former member of the Polk Flower Club. Carol's hands were never idle; she was an avid gardener, cultivating vibrant flower and vegetable gardens that brought joy to all who visited her home. Her artistic flair extended to her love of wallpapering, oil painting, sewing and reading. Carol was a former member of the Polk Church of Christ, where services to celebrate her life will be held on October 23, 2026, at 204 E. Congress St., Polk, Ohio. at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to service. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jen Smith for her exceptional care and kindness to Carol over the past year, as well as to the compassionate staff at Kingston of Ashland for their dedicated support during the last weeks of Carol's life. Carol's warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her family and community will be deeply missed. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
