Carol 'Jean' Galloway

In loving memory of Carol 'Jean' Galloway, who peacefully left this world at her home on August 30, 2026. Born on November 19, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, Jean was a beacon of kindness, whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and service to others. Jean was the cherished daughter of the late Margaret Caroline Cox. In addition, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Jerry Galloway, and her sister, Susan McDougal. Together, Jean and Jerry created a life full of cherished memories, centered around family and an abiding love for one another. A proud graduate of Brown High School in Atlanta, Class of 1969, Jean carried her love for learning into her lifelong passion for reading. She often delighted in juggling multiple novels at once, with a cup of coffee always by her side, fueling her days and her heart. She continued her education and advanced her career including property management and her time at the Atlanta Journal. Jean's legacy is carried forward by her loving children Julie (Danny), Brandy, Phillip, and Jeremy. Her grandchildren, Katlin, Ashley, Kylee, and Easton, were her pride and joy, each holding a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her siblings, David Moore (Pam), Linda Cox-Watkins, and John Moore. Known for her unparalleled southern hospitality, Jean's home was a haven for friends and family alike. Her doors were always open, and she made everyone feel welcome. Her life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to the service of others, always putting their needs before her own. Jean's care and compassion were felt by all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever. A funeral service will take place on September 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Westview Cemetery, located at 1680 Westview Dr SW, Atlanta, GA. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her life. Arrangements are being made by Southern Cremations & Funerals at 640 McGarity Rd, McDonough, GA 30252. Jean Galloway's life was a beautiful story of love, family, and selfless generosity. Her memory will forever be a guiding light for those she leaves behind.
