It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Mason, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on August 7, 2026, at the KU Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. Born in Wyandotte on June 18, 1960, Carol was a beacon of love and compassion, touching the lives of many throughout her 66 years of life. Carol was the cherished daughter of the late Neva and Lloyd Yonts. She grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family, alongside her siblings, the late Lloyd Yonts, Bonnie Deshazer, and Janet Stroup. Carol's journey in life was marked by her dedication to education, graduating from Wyandotte High School and furthering her studies at Donnelly College and KCKCC in Wyandotte County. Her passion for learning and helping others led her to a fulfilling career in education, where she devoted herself to working with children with special needs. Carol's nurturing spirit and boundless patience made her an invaluable mentor and friend to countless students. Carol shared an extraordinary life with her beloved husband, Larry Mason. Together, they cultivated a home brimming with love and laughter, raising three wonderful children: Lloyd, Jennifer, and Amanda Mason. Her legacy of kindness and generosity lives on in her grandchildren, Ethan Anderson, Cameron Mason, Dominick Pittman, Daniel Barry, and Luckious Pittman, who brought her immense joy and pride. Family was the cornerstone of Carol's life, and she extended her maternal warmth to everyone around her. Her home was always open, a haven of support and encouragement. She was a guiding light not only to her family but also to the students she taught and supported throughout her career. Her commitment to furthering her education was driven by her desire to make a difference in the lives of the children she worked with. Carol's family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the staff at KU Hospice House for their exceptional care and kindness. The compassion shown to Carol and her loved ones during her final days will never be forgotten. A celebration of Carol's life will be held on September 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Beach House at Wyandotte County Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to organizations supporting special needs education, a cause that was dear to Carol's heart. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we hold onto the precious memories and the love she shared with us all. Carol's life was a testament to the power of love, education, and unwavering dedication to family and community. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
