It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Elizabeth Davis Plott, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the age of 93. Carol was born on January 19, 1933, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late George Williams Davis and Dorothy Kathryn Taylor Davis. Her life was a testament to dedication, love, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Carol spent her formative years in Columbia, where she developed a passion for learning and a nurturing spirit that would guide her throughout her life. After completing her education at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Schools of Medical Imaging Radiography program, Carol embarked on a fulfilling career as an x-ray technician. Her professionalism and compassion were hallmarks of her long and prosperous career in the private medical sector. Carol's gentle touch and expert care brought comfort to countless patients and colleagues alike.
In 1960, she married the love of her life, Donald G. Plott. Their 66-year marriage was a shining example of devotion and partnership. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Elizabeth Julia Plott of Nailsworth, England, and Brent Page Plott of Bronx, New York, in a home filled with laughter, warmth, and love. Although Carol and Donald did not have grandchildren, their legacy of kindness and generosity continues through their children.
Carol was a woman of many passions and interests. She was an active member of the Anglican Cathedral Church of the Epiphany in Columbia, SC, where her faith and community involvement were deeply cherished. Her love for Scottish heritage shone through her dedicated membership in The Robert Burns Society of the Midlands and The Knights Templar, where she formed lasting friendships and shared her enthusiasm for culture and tradition.
An avid lover of animals, Carol was the proud owner of Redoubts' Kennel, where she raised Scottish Terriers. Her passion for these wonderful companions took her to national and international dog shows across the Eastern United States, Canada, and Bermuda. Carol's connection with her dogs and her dedication to their well-being was admired by many.
In addition to her love for animals, Carol was a gourmet cook who delighted in creating delicious meals for family and friends. Her culinary talents were matched only by her generosity, and she leaves behind cherished memories of gatherings filled with laughter and the aroma of her lovingly prepared dishes.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved parents and her brother, Barry Davis. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Donald, her cherished children, Elizabeth and Brent, and a wide circle of friends and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
Her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and profound wisdom touched the lives of all who knew her. Carol Elizabeth Davis Plott will be remembered as a beacon of grace, kindness, and strength. She leaves behind a legacy of love and an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In her honor, a memorial service will be held at the Anglican Cathedral Church of the Epiphany in Columbia, SC, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting Carol's generous and giving nature.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who were touched by her extraordinary life.
