In Loving Memory

Carol Bergt Theriot
October 3, 1950 — May 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Carol Bergt Theriot on May 8, 2026, at her beloved home. Carol was born on October 3, 1950, in Orange, Texas, to Doris Faye Wright-Welch, Jimmy Lee Welch, Jr., and Jasper Bergt, who have all predeceased her. Her life was a tapestry woven with love, kindness, and a profound commitment to family and community.
Carol was an extraordinary woman who balanced her roles as a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend with grace and warmth. She is survived by her loving daughters, Donnell Atkinson Anderson (Blake), Cheryl Atkinson Dennis (Steve), and Theresa Theriot Allan (Brian). Her spirit and legacy continue through her dear brothers, Charles Bergt (Sherri) and Mark Bergt (Karen), and her treasured grandchildren: Riley Dennis-Ilaoa, Wyatt Anderson, Nolan Anderson, Riot Allen, Paisley Dennis, and Rebel Allan. Carol's great-grandchildren, Adira Ilaoa and Tane Ilaoa, brought boundless joy to her days. She also leaves behind her close friends, Val Long (Bob) and Sandy McMullen (Ken), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a circle of friends at The Lodge at John's Road who admired her deeply.
Carol's journey in education began at Little-Cypress Mauriceville, Texas, where she graduated in 1968. Known for her vibrant spirit, she was elected as class favorite and served as yearbook editor, infusing her artistic talent into every illustration. Despite being offered a full art scholarship, Carol chose a path of service, accepting a position as a secretary with the FBI in Washington, D.C. Her career later brought her back to Texas, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the manufacturing and oil industries in Dallas and Orange.
Her patriotic heart led her to passionately support the Wounded Warriors Project, reflecting her deep-seated respect for those who served. Carol's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was an active member of Little Cypress Baptist Church and later attended River Hills Church in Huntsville, Alabama, and Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, Texas.
Carol's creativity was boundless, and she expressed it through her love of crocheting, coloring, drawing, painting, and crafting intricate greeting cards. Her greatest joy came from the simple pleasures: watching movies, reading, and enjoying laughter-filled moments with loved ones. Known for her willingness to help others, Carol's nurturing spirit was evident in her readiness to cook a meal, lend a hand with home projects, or care for family pets.
A private memorial with immediate family will be held in Rockwall, Texas, as they gather to celebrate Carol's life and legacy. In this time of sorrow, the family finds comfort in the words of John 16:22: "Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you."
Carol Bergt Theriot's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and laughter. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were privileged to know her, and her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift.
