In Loving Memory

Carol Ann Hutchinson "Calann"
November 13, 1941 — October 29, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carol Ann Hutchinson on October 29, 2026. Born on November 13, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Carol was a beloved daughter of LuEssie Jackson and James Pierce Sr. She left this world peacefully in the early hours of the morning, surrounded by her cherished family.
Carol was preceded in death by her devoted spouse, George D. Hutchinson, her sons Jerry Lee Sr. and Tyrone Lee, and her siblings Roy T. Pierce and James Pierce, among other dear family members. Her legacy is carried forward by her surviving children: Torona Lee, Darryle Lee (Tama), George Hutchinson (Tigist/GG), Rhonda H. Champagne(Don), and Pedra Ann Williams (Keith). She will be deeply missed by her brother Rudolph Pierce, and her grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In 1965, Carol married the love of her life, George D. Hutchinson, in a ceremony held in their beloved New Orleans. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising a family that would grow to include a multitude of grandchildren.
For over 30 years, Carol dedicated her life to nourishing young minds and bodies as a cafeteria worker, trained by the military, in the Orleans Parish Schools. Her generosity knew no bounds; she was known for her acts of kindness, such as leaving plates of food for the garbage men and desserts for the teachers. Her culinary talents were matched only by her passion for fashion, and Carol Ann was a true New Orleans fashionista throughout every era of her life.
An active member of the New Home Full Gospel Ministries, Carol served as a minister for 17 years, spreading the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her ability to comfort those in distress and her devotion to quoting scripture were defining qualities that touched many lives. Her favorite words were, “If God tells me to tell it to you, I'm gonna tell it. God will not hold it against me for not telling you what thus says the Lord.” While living in RockyMount, NC she was a member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church.
Beyond her work and ministry, Carol found joy in cooking and traveling, embracing the vibrant culture of her birthplace. Her spirit and love for life were evident in every dish she prepared and every journey she embarked upon.
A celebration of Carol's life will take place on November 14, 2026, at 9:00 AM for viewing and the service starts at 10:00 am at New Home Full Gospel Ministries, 1616 Robert Charles Blakes Sr. Dr., New Orleans, LA 70130.
As we bid farewell to Carol Ann Hutchinson, we hold close the words of John 14:1: "Let not your heart be troubled and neither let it be afraid. For in my father's house there are many mansions..." Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will forever inspire us all.
