In Loving Memory

The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation. Psalm 118:14
June 16, 1945 — October 27, 2026
Carol Hensch, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother/mimi, sister, and friend, passed away into the loving arms of her Savior on October 27, 2026. Born on June 16, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Carol was the cherished daughter of Robert and Irene Gugenheim. Her early years were filled with the love and laughter of her family, growing up alongside her siblings in a home rooted in faith, kindness, laughter and love.
On June 6, 1964, Carol married the love of her life, Art Hensch, in a ceremony that marked the beginning of a beautiful journey of love and devotion together. Their 62-year marriage was a testament to their enduring love and devotion, a partnership that nurtured three wonderful children: Cheri (Brian) Canada, Shelly (Jerry) Shively, and M. Leland (Kerrys) Hensch. Carol and Art's family grew to include 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to Carol's life.
Carol's vibrant spirit was evident to all who knew her. She had a knack for creating silly songs and phrases that left lasting impressions on those around her. Her infectious smile and genuine interest in others drew people to her effortlessly. Carol's joy, deeply rooted in her relationship with Jesus, overflowed to everyone she encountered, leaving a trail of warmth and happiness in her wake.
Music was one of Carol's many passions. She found great joy in being a part of the Melody Makers singing group, where she shared her love of music with her sisters and friends, creating harmonies that resonated with the community. Her voice was not only musical but also a voice of encouragement and support to those she loved.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Bob and Irene Gugenheim and her brother Bob Gugenheim. She is survived by her devoted husband Art, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her siblings: Phyllis (Milo) McCormack, Rose Mullen, and Ken (April Ann) Gugenheim. Her extended family, including many nieces and nephews, will forever cherish her memory.
Carol's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and music. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. As the family gathers to celebrate her life, they are comforted by the countless memories they shared with a woman whose heart was as expansive as her smile.
A visitation will be held on Saturday November 21, 2026, from 2-3pm with a celebration of Carol's life to begin at 3:00 pm at Grace Bible Church, 560 Tracy Road, New Whiteland, IN.
