Carmen J. Carbone

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Carmen Carbone, who left this world on August 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his children and their spouses. Born on January 24, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, Carmen was the beloved son of Sylvester and Rose Carbone. Carmen's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the power of family. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary, his parents Sylvester and Rose, his brother Sylvester Jr., and his sister Carmella. He is survived by his cherished children, Carmene (Beth), James (Kelly), and Desiree (Shawn), as well as his devoted sisters Angie, Shirley, and Jenny. Carmen’s legacy of love continues through his grandchildren Chris, Carl (Whitney), Steven (Kayla), Kim (Shane), Alyssia, Katie (Thomas), Maree (RJ), Anthony, Sabrina, Selena, Shawn, and Ethan, and his great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Tristan, Kenzie, Astrid, Jay, Aurelius, Beau, Odette, Riggs, and Emilia. Carmen's journey began in the vibrant neighborhoods of Chicago, where he met and married the love of his life, Mary, in February 1957. Together, they built a beautiful family, first in South Holland, Illinois, and later, in Mesa, Arizona, where they moved in 1977. Carmen’s professional life was marked by his work at the Nashua Tape Factory in Chicago and later as a dedicated school bus mechanic and supervisor for the Tempe School District. A man of many talents, Carmen found great joy in music, playing an array of instruments including the guitar, mandolin, accordion, and Italian bagpipes. His enthusiasm for music was matched only by his devotion to family, as he consistently placed their needs above all else. Carmen had an exceptional ability to make everyone feel like family, whether by offering a helping hand, sharing a cup of coffee, or imparting wisdom from his rich tapestry of life experiences. Carmen’s warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a hardworking and compassionate individual whose presence brought comfort and joy to countless lives. He will be remembered for his unwavering support, his love of lively conversations, and his gentle guidance. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Carmen’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Carmen’s generous spirit. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we hold on to the memories and the love that Carmen shared with us all. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day.
