Carmen P. Patierno, Sr.

Carmen P. Patierno, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 97. Born on October 17, 1928, in Passaic, New Jersey, Carmen was the cherished son of Leonardo and Sylvia Patierno (Romano). He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Elinor C. Patierno (Mautone), his parents, and his siblings, Alfred, Leonardo, and Pauline Patierno (Tor). Carmen's life was a testament to dedication, love, and service. He proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran during the Korean War, completing two tours and earning an honorable discharge on October 7, 1954. His unwavering patriotism and honor were evident in all aspects of his life. For over three decades, Carmen worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Passaic, New Jersey. His dedication to his work and community left a lasting impression on those he served. Even after retirement in 1989, Carmen remained active, sharing his love for sports by working as an umpire for high school and college baseball and softball, as well as Legion ball and semi-pro games until the age of 72. Carmen was a resident of Belleville, NJ, for 50 years before moving to Leander, Texas, in December 2017, where he lived independently until his passing. His life in Texas was filled with joy as he spent cherished moments with his family. Carmen is survived by his loving children, Donna Patierno, Debra (Patierno) Feland, and Carmen, Jr., his son-in-law, Frank Feland, and daughter-in-law, Sandra Patierno. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren Joshua, Grace, Genesis, David and Jonathan, whom he adored immensely. His summers were spent basking in the sun by the pool, tending to his yard, and doting on his grandchildren. An avid Yankees fan, Carmen relished every moment of baseball season and was known to cheer for any team playing against the Giants during football season. He also enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City, where he embraced adventure and camaraderie. Carmen will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. His legacy of kindness and integrity will continue to inspire those who knew him. A private ceremony will be held in his honor at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with the dignity befitting a man of his character. In remembrance of Carmen P. Patierno, Sr., the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, celebrating the spirit of generosity that he embodied throughout his life. Carmen's enduring love and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
