It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Carlton Bruce Steele on June 8, 2026. Carlton, who faced a courageous battle with cancer, left this world peacefully at the age of 69. Born on April 8, 1957, in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Bobby Gene Steele and Mary Ann (Elliott) Steele.
Carlton's life was a testament to love, hard work, and resilience. He attended Saint Albans High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and began his journey of self-discovery. Throughout his career as an industrial painter, Carlton was known for his unmatched work ethic and dedication, qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends alike.
His greatest pride and joy were his beloved children: Sarah Stratton (Shawn), Tucker Steele (Jessica), and Abigail Steele (Samuel). Carlton's legacy of kindness and strength will live on through them. He was also a cherished grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren: Jeremiah Stratton, Corban Stratton, and Bexley Stratton. The love he shared with them was boundless, and his stories, laughter, and teachings will forever be a guiding light in their lives.
Carlton is survived by his loving siblings, Vicky Gill (John) and Terry Thornton, who stood by his side throughout his journey. His nieces and nephews, although missing Angelica Saunders and David Saunders, carry forward the spirit of family unity he so cherished.
A service to honor Carlton's life will be held at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, located at 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV. Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate the beautiful life he led and the many hearts he touched.
The Steele family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at CAMC Memorial and Hubbard Hospice House, whose care and kindness provided comfort in Carlton's final days.
