It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carlos Henry Hoschar, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Carlos passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 4, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on March 18, 1955, in Huntington, West Virginia, Carlos lived a life full of adventure, service, and love.
Carlos was the cherished son of the late Charles Hoschar Jr. and Mary Booth Hoschar. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and laughter that they instilled in him.

His military career was marked by numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Battle “G” Ribbon (2nd Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (3rd Award), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5th Award), Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Star. He also received the Third Good Conduct Award for the period ending July 31, 1988, and served bravely in the Persian Gulf War. His dedication and commitment to his country were a testament to his strength of character and unwavering sense of duty.
A man of many talents and passions, Carlos was an avid fisherman and hunter. He found peace and joy in the great outdoors, often accompanied by his loyal labs, Midnight and Shadow, who were more than just pets—they were family. Carlos's love for nature was only rivaled by his love for people. Known for being the life of the party, he had an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room. Carlos never met a stranger, and his friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Carlos's love for his family was paramount. He is survived by his children, Shauna Jurica, Geneva Meeks (Timothy), Shamron Love (Shane), Angel Jacques, and Cody Hoschar, each of whom held a special place in his heart, and sister, Charlotte Nixon. Carlos was also a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of his life. Carlos was a loving Uncle to 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
In celebrating Carlos's life, we remember a man who was not only dedicated to his family and country but also to making the world a happier and friendlier place. His legacy of laughter, kindness, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A service to honor Carlos's memory will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and tears in remembrance of a truly remarkable man. The family requests that donations to be made with the exceptions of flowers, be made to a veteran's charity of your choice in Carlos's memory.
Carlos Henry Hoschar's journey may have come to an end, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
