Melvin De’Anthony Scott
July 22, 1953 — March 5, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Carlos De’Anthony Scott, who left this world in his sleep on March 5, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in the beautiful city of Chattanooga, Tennessee, on July 22, 1953, Melvin lived a life full of warmth, dedication, and love, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Melvin was the cherished son of Nathaniel Joseph Scott and Ann Maria Scott, who instilled in him the values of kindness, hard work, and devotion. As a beloved brother to Nathaniel Scott, Angelia Scott, Melvin Scott, and Ellen Scott, marlo was a pillar of strength and support, always ready with his warming smile that could light up a room.
A proud graduate of Brainerd High School and Chattanooga State TCAT, Melvin went on to serve his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Army during World War I. Following his service, he poured his skills into his self-owned HVAC technician business, where his dedication and professionalism earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond his career, Melvin was a man of many passions. Known for his love of farming, he found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of the land. A natural outdoorsman, he relished days spent fishing and evenings watching NASCAR and Monster Jam, often sharing these moments with his family and friends.
Melvin was a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews, Ty’Rence Scott, Nalencia Scott, and Valencia Scott, who along with their children—TyRence Scott Jr., TyRese Scott, Nick Scott, Dekia Burton, Malik Burton, Au’Brie Roper, Prince Scott, and Amir Roper—brought immense joy to his life. Though he never married or had children of his own, his heart was vast enough to embrace them all as his own.
An active member of RockPoint Church and the Excellence Academy of the Elderly, Melvin dedicated his time to serving his community and nurturing his faith. His presence was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to those around him.
A celebration of Melvin life will be held on March 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at RockPoint Church, 7997 Shallowford Rd. The family invites all who knew and loved him to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to share in the comfort of community during this time of mourning.
