It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carlita Poole, a cherished soul whose light touched countless lives. Carlita left this world on April 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 68 years old.
Born in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, on November 4, 1957, Carlita was the beloved daughter of Carolyn and Darvey Tate. Her childhood was filled with the warmth of family, love, and laughter, shared with her siblings, Carver, Darlene, and Bryson Tate, who predeceased her. The bonds forged in those early years shaped Carlita into a woman of strength, kindness, and resilience.
Carlita's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to serve and uplift others. After graduating from Curie High School, she answered the call to serve her country, joining the U.S. Navy in 1976. For four years, Carlita dedicated herself to the noble cause of protecting her nation, a testament to her indomitable spirit and deep sense of duty. Her time in the Navy was not just a period of service but an era of growth, adventure, and camaraderie that she cherished dearly.
After completing her military service, Carlita returned home, bringing with her the discipline, integrity, and compassion that would guide her through life's many endeavors. She built a life enriched by her pursuit of knowledge, her passion for helping others, and her love for her family.
Carlita's life was a testament to the power of love and perseverance. She was the devoted mother of Commerce Poole, who stood by her side through every triumph and challenge. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchild, who was the light of her later years, bringing joy and laughter into her life.
In her quiet moments, Carlita found solace in the simple pleasures—a good book, the beauty of a sunset, the warmth of a shared meal with loved ones. She was a beacon of hope and a source of strength to those who knew her, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
