CARLETTE DARBY

February 7, 1991 — September 29, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carlette Darby, who departed this world on September 29, 2026, at the age of 35. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 7, 1991, Carlette was a vibrant soul whose presence lit up every room she entered. Carlette was the beloved daughter of Carla M. Darby and Arvel T. Bush, who cherished her deeply. She was predeceased by her grandfather, John M. Scott, whose guiding spirit continued to inspire her throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Vontae J. Carter, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and companionship since their middle school days, culminating in a joyful marriage on June 5, 2017. A remarkable mother, Carlette leaves behind two adoring children, Carshawn K. Darby, 18, and Carleia M. Darby, 15. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and she found immense fulfillment in nurturing and supporting them. Carlette also leaves behind her siblings: Charles T. Bush, Endo'Nesia C. Bush, and Arvel T. Bush Jr., who remember her as a pillar of strength and love. Carlette's tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly. At the young age of 16, she began her journey in the workforce, ultimately founding "Big House Cleaning," a successful cleaning service in the Greater Cleveland area. Her dedication was not only evident in her professional life but also in her commitment to education. After earning her GED in 2017, she became an independent business owner in 2023. Her passion for teaching and her love for children were unmatched. Carlette frequently volunteered at her children's schools, participating in field trips and events, and offering her time in classrooms. Her lively humor and ability to connect with young minds made her a cherished presence in the community. Carlette's spirit will be celebrated at a memorial service on October 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Sinai Friendships United, located at 7510 Woodland Avenue. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her extraordinary life. In keeping with Carlette's wishes, the family shares a message from her late grandfather, John M. Scott, which Carlette held close to her heart: "Family, I am with God. I have no regrets, I have no shame. All has been done on earth for me. I am leaving knowing that my children are in great hands and family hasn’t fallen apart and will remain together and strong and driven like I was... Amen to all." The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Carlette's memory to a charity of choice, reflecting her love for children and education. Carlette Darby will forever be remembered for her unwavering strength, boundless love, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched.
