It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Vincent Ellerbe, affectionately known to many as "Bean." Carl departed this world on February 28, 2026, at the age of 61, at his home in Queens, New York, after a courageous battle with illness. His departure leaves a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on July 30, 1964, in East Elmhurst, Queens, New York, Carl was the cherished son of Nathaniel Ellerbe and Betty (Ellerbe) Brockett. He was predeceased by his beloved father, Nathaniel Ellerbe, whose legacy of kindness and resilience was carried on by Carl throughout his life. Carl, a proud holder of a high school GED, was a man of many talents. His professional journey saw him contributing his skills as a baker at Dunkin Donuts and later as a car assembly person. In every role he undertook, Carl exemplified dedication and hard work, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Carl found joy in music, especially rap, and was known for his infectious laughter and pleasant personality. A man of great humor, Carl brought smiles and laughter to those around him, a trait that will be dearly missed by all. His generosity and willingness to help others, often without needing to be asked, defined him as a beacon of support to family and friends. Carl's legacy lives on through his cherished children, Bianca Ellerbe and Jatavia Ellerbe, who will forever hold the memory of their father's love and guidance close to their hearts. He is also survived by His Sister Mary Isaacs brother Nathaniel Ellerbe Jr and Nephews Alex Skyler,Joshua, Nathaniel Ellerbe ,Lynis Ellerbe , his Neice’s Natasha, Elizabeth, Chanel and his precious grandson, Naveen Glenn, who, although too young to fully comprehend the depth of his grandfather's humor and warmth, will grow up surrounded by stories of Carl's loving and comedic spirit. A service to honor and celebrate Carl's life will be held on March 14, 2026, at 3:30 PM at the Roy L Gilmore Funeral Home, located at 191-02 Linden Blvd, Saint Albans, NY 11412. Family, friends, and all those whose lives Carl touched are warmly invited to join in remembering and celebrating the life of a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. In this time of mourning, Carl's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support they have received. They take solace in knowing that Carl's spirit will live on in the laughter and kindness he shared so freely with the world. As they navigate life without him, they find comfort in the enduring memories of a father, grandfather, and friend who was truly one of a kind. "His grandson, Naveen Glenn, will never know he had a great sense of humor," the family fondly shares, reminding us all of the laughter that Carl brought into their lives. Rest in peace, dear Carl, and may your legacy of kindness, laughter, and love continue to inspire us all.
