July 11, 1965 — December 18, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl O. Garrett, beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us far too soon on December 18, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on July 11, 1965, in the beautiful city of Quebec, Canada, Carl's journey through life was one filled with love, laughter, and a relentless pursuit of his passions. Carl was the cherished son of Ralph Garrett and Hugette Sturghill, and although he was preceded in death by his father Ralph, stepfather Robert Sturghill, and several other dear family members, he leaves behind a legacy of resilience and love. His mother Hugette, along with his mother Saijai Garrett, and his devoted caregiver Petra Garrett, survive him and will forever cherish the memories they created together. A graduate of Arthur Hill High School in 1985, Carl went on to pursue his passion for driving by attending trade school to become a semi-truck driver. His career spanned over 35 years, during which he worked for several companies before achieving his dream of becoming an owner-operator. Carl's love for the open road was more than just a job; it was his calling. Family was everything to Carl. He was a loving stepfather to Julian and Marilyn, whom he adored and cherished deeply. Carl's bond with his siblings, Barbara Thomas, Christine Martin, Boon Som (Darrell) Morris, Sonia Payne, and brother Robert Sturghill Jr., was unbreakable, and he leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins who will miss his generous spirit and infectious laughter. In his free time, Carl found joy in simple pleasures. Whether he was swimming, enjoying a movie, dining out, or spending time with family, Carl embraced each moment with enthusiasm and gratitude. His warmth and humor will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A picnic will be held to celebrate Carl's life, honoring the quiet yet profound impact he had on those around him. Come celebrate with us and share your memories of him. Though his life was shorter than we all hoped, Carl's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His journey has ended, but the love and memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire and bring comfort to his family and friends. Carl O. Garrett will be remembered with love and admiration, a remarkable man whose life was a testament to the power of passion, love, and family.
