In Loving Memory

Carl Leon Wilson
June 23, 1969 — May 18, 2013
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Leon Wilson, a cherished father, brother, and friend, who left us on May 18, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with addiction. Born on June 23, 1969, in Wichita, Kansas, Carl lived a life marked by love, laughter, and resilience.
Carl was the beloved son of Dorothy and Pete Wilson, who preceded him in death along with his brothers Steven and Homer Wilson, and nephew Homer Wilson Jr. Despite the many challenges he faced, Carl remained a beacon of strength and warmth to his surviving siblings, Karletta Wilson and Tony Wilson, and to his children: Carl Stoeckert, Tauna Stoeckert, Christina Wilson, Colby Wilson, Cyruss Wilson, and Carly Wilson. His legacy continues through his ten adored grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Throughout his life, Carl wore many hats and touched countless lives. He was first a devoted husband to Teresa Harrison, with whom he shared two beautiful children in Wichita. After their paths diverged, Carl found love again with Charlotte Clark, and together they welcomed four more children into the world. Though their marriage ended, Carl continued to share his life with his girlfriend, Sabrina, who stood by him through his trials and triumphs.
Education was a milestone Carl took great pride in, having earned his GED from WCAT in Topeka, Kansas. He went on to forge a varied and successful career, holding roles as a barber, mechanic, truck driver, and climber. His time on the road as a truck driver was cut short by an accident, leading him to find fulfillment in tree service work—a testament to his adaptability and determination.
Carl's life was also enriched by his passions. An avid fisherman, he found peace and joy on the water, often accompanied by his family, with whom he treasured every moment. His quick wit and warm smile were his trademarks, and he had an unmatched gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Carl’s kindness and generosity left a lasting imprint on all who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have been touched by his spirit.
In honoring Carl's memory, we remember a man of great humor and heart, whose welcoming nature and ability to lighten the mood with a joke or a smile will be dearly missed. His life was a testament to the impact one person can have through small acts of kindness and unwavering love.
A celebration of Carl's life will be held at a future date, where family and friends will gather to cherish the memories and recount the stories that made him so special. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the indelible legacy he leaves behind, one filled with love, laughter, and a reminder of the importance of cherishing every moment with those we hold dear.
Rest in peace, Carl Leon Wilson. Your journey may have ended, but your spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
