In Loving Memory

Carl E Bailey
December 21, 1957 — May 18, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Carl E. Bailey, who departed from this world peacefully in his sleep on May 18, 2026, at his residence. Born on December 21, 1957, in Washington, DC, Carl’s journey through life was marked by warmth, generosity, and an enduring sense of humor that left an indelible imprint on everyone he met.
Carl was the cherished youngest child of George Bailey and Evelyn V. Holland. As the sixth child in his family, Carl was the beloved younger brother to Cynthia B. Newman, Gail B. Pretty, George (Jacqui) Bailey, Warren Bailey, and Payton (Vivian) Bailey, and the adored little brother of his late sister, Karen V. Bailey. He was the pride of his grandparents, Ada H. Brown, Melanie Johnson, and Harmon Carter, whose legacies he carried forward with grace and dignity.
A proud graduate of Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA, Carl went on to hone his skills as a Carpet Mechanic under the mentorship of his brother-in-law, William Newman, Sr. Carl’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own business, a testament to his industrious nature and dedication. In 2019, he embraced a new chapter at George Mason University, where he earned his forklift operator certification and worked diligently as a receiver, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Carl’s life was enriched by his love for basketball, a passion he shared with his nephews, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His quick smile and warm heart were the hallmarks of his character, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a lighthearted story. In true Carl fashion, he once surprised his mother with a Mercedes Benz and gifted his father a new window air conditioner, both with the playful claim that they had "fallen off the back of a truck."
Carl is survived by his devoted sisters, brothers, four loving aunts—Olethia Brown, Louvenia Johnson, Dottie Hurley, Orlean Tolen—and an uncle, Roscoe Johnson. He also leaves behind a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a circle of friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
As we remember Carl, we find comfort in the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind. His warmth and humor will forever be etched in our hearts, reminding us to embrace life with the same joy and generosity that he did.
A celebration of Carl’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share in the stories that defined his remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carl’s memory to a charity of your choice, continuing his legacy of helping others and spreading kindness.
May Carl E. Bailey rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
