After his military career, Carl pursued his passion for engineering, working as a mechanical engineer with various automobile manufacturers. His unrivaled expertise and precision earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and mentees alike. In his personal life, Carl was blessed with a loving marriage to Jan Hess, his devoted wife, and partner. Carl was a devoted father to Matt and Chris Hess, and though he is predeceased by his beloved son Dave, daughter Stephanie, and his parents, his spirit lives on in the hearts of his surviving family.
