Carl was the beloved son of Nathaniel and Bethany Hess, who instilled in him the enduring values of kindness and integrity. A proud graduate of Wichita East High School in the class of 1971, Carl's journey led him to honorably serve his country in the United States Army from 1971 to 1992. His dedication and commitment during those years left an indelible mark on those he served alongside.
After his military career, Carl pursued his passion for engineering, working as a mechanical engineer with various automobile manufacturers. His unrivaled expertise and precision earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and mentees alike. Carl's career was not just a testament to his skill, but a reflection of his unwavering dedication to excellence and mentorship.
In his personal life, Carl was blessed with a loving marriage to Jan Hess, his devoted wife, and partner. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring love, a legacy that continues to shine brightly through their family. Carl was a devoted father to Matt and Chris Hess, and though he is predeceased by his beloved son Dave, daughter Stephanie, and his parents, his spirit lives on in the hearts of his surviving family.
Carl's family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment with his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His quick wit and engaging personality ensured that there was never a dull moment in his company, and he always had a way of keeping those around him smiling and uplifted.
