Carl "Dan"

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl "Dan" Odeneal, who left this world on August 12, 2026, after a valiant 20-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born on October 8, 1957, in Nuremberg, Germany, Dan was a cherished son to Carl Odeneal and Herta Turner, and a beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Dan spent his early years in Washington, Illinois, where he graduated from Washington High School in 1975. Soon after, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years, where he honed his skills in boiler operations. This experience laid the foundation for a fulfilling career, as Dan dedicated 20 years to the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Florence, Colorado, as a Power House Operator. In 1985, Dan married the love of his life, Robin, in Washington, Illinois, relocating to Canon City, Colorado in 1988. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter over their 41-year marriage. Dan was a devoted father to his daughter, Ali, son Bo, and a doting grandfather to Peyton and Cameron, who brought immense joy to his life. Dan's commitment to his family was matched only by his dedication to his church communities. As an active member of both E Free Church and Catalyst Church in Canon City, Colorado, he found purpose and fulfillment in his faith and fellowship. Known for his love of working on cars and restoring old hot rods, Dan's self-built garage was a testament to his passion for tinkering and woodworking. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. Always the first to offer a helping hand, Dan's compassion and generosity left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. His unwavering positive attitude and strength in the face of adversity were truly inspiring. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Robin; his children, Ali (Shannon) Walker and Bo Britnell; his grandchildren, Peyton and Cameron Walker; his mother Herta Turner; his siblings, Rick Odeneal and Patty (Carl) Duckwiler; and his sisters-in-law, Jeanette Garrett, Linda Gregory, Bonnie Archer, Wanda Iden, and brother-in-law, Lane Selman. He is predeceased by his father, Carl Odeneal, and his sister-in-law, Jane Allen. In honor of Dan's courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, located in Norwalk, Connecticut. Dan's legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
