Cannan Forney

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Cannan Forney, who departed from this world on August 16, 2026. Born on January 3, 2001, in Jersey City, Cannan was a beacon of light and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life, though tragically cut short due to an unfortunate accident, was filled with warmth, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved. Cannan was the cherished son of Marquess Forney and Julissa Childs, who raised him to embody the virtues of compassion and selflessness. His legacy of love and laughter will be carried on by his siblings Taylor Forney, Caleb Forney, Marquess Forney, Jr., Trey Dunn, and Travis Forney, as well as his grandparents, Frances and Donald Forney. Cannan's extended family, along with countless friends, will forever hold him dear in their hearts. A proud graduate of Lincoln Tech, Cannan earned his HVAC certifications in 2026, a testament to his determination and hard work. For six years, he served with dedication at the local post office, where his infectious smile and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Cannan's life was enriched by his passions for basketball and fishing, pursuits he often enjoyed alongside his father. Whether it was shooting hoops or casting a line, Cannan relished every moment spent in nature or on the court, surrounded by those he loved. His vibrant spirit and genuine kindness made him a beloved figure in his community. Known for always putting others first, Cannan was a true blessing to all who knew him. His magnetic personality and ever-present smile brought joy to many, and his readiness to lend a helping hand in times of need was a hallmark of his character. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Cannan Forney. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, to continue the work of helping others in need, just as Cannan did throughout his life. In remembering Cannan, we hold onto the memory of a young man whose life was marked by love, kindness, and an unyielding dedication to those around him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
