It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Candice Babbette Morris, affectionately known as Candy, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, on August 29, 2026. Born on July 16, 1968, in Saint Johns County, Florida, Candy's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, laughter, and adventure. Candy was the cherished daughter of the late Steven Arthur Gause and Wanda Carol Mixon. She was lovingly raised alongside her siblings, Stephanie Cross and James Griffin, by her devoted stepmother, Floretta Gause. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was a beloved aunt to her niece, Hillary Taylor, and nephew, Steven Cross. On March 10, 1990, Candy married the love of her life, Ronald Morris, in Jacksonville, Florida. Together, they shared 36 beautiful years, filled with the joy of raising their cherished fur babies and creating a life rich in love and laughter. Her beloved Ronald, along with her parents, predeceased her, leaving an indelible mark on her heart. Professionally, Candy was a dedicated HR Director in banking at Citigroup for 22 years. Her career was marked by her commitment to training and developing others, and she was celebrated for forming lasting friendships both personally and professionally. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of support and encouragement, a testament to her generous spirit. An active participant in her community, Candy was a former president of the Pilot Club and an enthusiastic member of the Gardening Club. Her passions extended beyond her work and community involvement. Candy had an insatiable zest for life, reveling in every opportunity to travel, dance, sing, and savor delicious meals. Her flair for fashion was unmatched, and she never missed a chance to express her unique style with her love of clothes. Candy's personality was as vibrant as the flamingos she adored. She was fiercely loving, unapologetically herself, and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her ability to forge connections and turn them into lifelong friendships was a rare gift that she shared generously. A Celebration of Candy’s Life will be held on October 18, 2026, at 1:30 PM at the Coquina Crossing Clubhouse, located at 4536 Coquina Crossing Dr, Elkton, FL 32033. In honor of Candy's vibrant spirit, the family invites guests to wear a touch of pink and come ready to share cherished memories and stories of the special times they shared with her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Candy’s memory to the Pilot Club of Jacksonville, where she devoted much of her time and passion. Candy’s legacy of love, laughter, and individuality will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her indomitable spirit and the joy she brought into the world.
