October 9, 1960 — July 29, 2026

Calvin Mitchell, born on October 9, 1960, in Fresno, left this world on July 29, 2026, at the age of 65, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories that will forever be etched into the hearts of those who knew him. Calvin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vonda Koertje, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage that began in 1983. Together, they nurtured a family filled with laughter, warmth, and endless love. Calvin's life was also touched by the loss of his sons, Robert and Kevin Koertje; his sisters, Terry and Angela Koertje; his brother, Ronald Koertje; his cousins, Ben, Tim, and Brian Koertje; and his aunts, Terry and Angela Koertje. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in his two treasured grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. For 21 years, Calvin dedicated himself to his work at a local accounting firm in Fresno. He was more than just a colleague; he was a beacon of kindness and encouragement, always ready to lend a helping hand or a kind word. His coworkers remember him as a compassionate, friendly, and motivational presence—a true friend who could brighten any room with his infectious smile. Outside of work, Calvin found solace and happiness in the great outdoors. His love for camping trips, especially to his favorite spot at Cove Orchard, was well-known among those close to him. It was here that he forged unforgettable memories with friends, surrounded by nature's beauty. Calvin also had a passion for fishing, building model cars, riding quads, and tending to his small farm—hobbies that reflected his zest for life and his appreciation for simple joys. Calvin's character was defined by his unwavering strength, his ability to bring light to the darkest moments, and his boundless love for all he called family. He had a unique gift for making others feel special, and his kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His legacy is one of love, resilience, and the enduring power of a warm heart. A private ceremony will be held to honor Calvin's life and bid farewell to a man who meant so much to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Calvin Mitchell—a man who lived with a heart full of love and a soul that touched the lives of all who knew him.
