January 13, 1944 — March 28, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Calvin Coleman Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, on March 28, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 13, 1944, in Lexington, Mississippi, Calvin was the cherished son of the late Calvin Coleman Sr. and Alberta Williams Coleman. Calvin's journey in life was marked by steadfast love, unwavering faith, and a deep commitment to his family and community. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 20 years, Shellene A. Coleman, who was his partner in life and faith. Together, they built a home filled with love and warmth, nurturing a large, loving family. Calvin's legacy lives on through his children, Cara, Calvin, LaMar, Nora, Ricky, Scottie, Shun Ray, Kelly, Usef, Ismail, Jessica, Levi, Jessie, Rodney, and Robert, as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Calvin is also survived by his siblings, Alfonso, Gloria, and Terry, and an extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless friends who he considered family. His presence in their lives was a blessing, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him. A man of quiet strength and gentle spirit, Calvin was a beacon of love and kindness. His strong-willed nature was often misunderstood, but to those who knew him well, it was a testament to his deep and abiding love for everyone around him. Calvin believed in loving without expectation, embodying the essence of selflessness. Guided by his faith, Calvin found solace and purpose in his relationship with God. A devout follower of Jesus Christ, he held dear the words of John 14:6: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." His faith journey led him to serve his church community with dedication, first as an usher and later as a Deacon. He took great joy in visiting the sick and offering help wherever he could, forming bonds with his church family that would last a lifetime. Calvin and Shellene shared many precious moments together, whether attending church services, spending time with family, or enjoying quiet evenings on their patio listening to music. These simple yet profound moments were the foundation of a love that will endure beyond this life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Joe from Allina Health Hospice Care and Chautauqua (Taco) from Legacy Home Care for their compassionate support during Calvin's final days. Their kindness and care brought comfort to Calvin and his family, and for that, they are eternally grateful. May God's blessings continue to be with them. A service to honor Calvin's life will be held on April 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, located at 451 Central Avenue West, St. Paul, MN 55103. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating the life of a man who touched so many with his love and faith. Calvin Coleman Jr. will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love he gave, the faith he shared, and the lives he touched. In love, he will truly be missed.
