In Loving Memory

Caitlyn Madison Sturgues
October 18, 2002 — September 1, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Caitlyn Madison Sturgues, a cherished daughter, sister, and friend, whose light graced us from October 18, 2002, until her untimely departure. Born in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Caitlyn was a beacon of joy and inspiration to all who knew her.
Caitlyn was the beloved daughter of Latoya Monique Floyd and Barry Glenn Sturgues Jr., who nurtured her kind spirit and passion for life. She leaves behind her siblings Jaylyn, Anaiya, Kennedy, Kimaure, and Lauren, each of whom she held dear and inspired with her warmth and compassion.
A graduate of Clark Atlanta University, Caitlyn earned her bachelor's degree in marine biology in 2024. Her love for the sea and its creatures was not just an academic pursuit but a heartfelt commitment to the world’s oceans and the life within them. Her dedication to marine biology was matched only by her love for music. An accomplished pianist, Caitlyn found joy in the melodies she crafted, sharing her passion with those fortunate enough to hear her play.
Caitlyn was a person of remarkable character, known for her warm smile that could light up any room, her quick wit, and her wisdom that belied her years. She was deeply endearing, a quality that drew people to her naturally. Her caring nature was evident to all who had the privilege of encountering her. Caitlyn touched many lives with her kindness and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she met.
In honoring Caitlyn’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held for family and close friends. Her family kindly encourages those who wish to honor her memory to consider making a donation to the American Heart Association, an organization close to her heart, to continue the legacy of care and concern that Caitlyn embodied.
Though Caitlyn’s time with us was far too brief, her spirit and the love she shared with so many will forever remain in our hearts. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
