It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Byron Garrett, who gently fell asleep in death on Sunday, July 5th, 2026, at the age of 57. Byron's final moments were spent at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on August 29, 1968, in Baltimore, MD, Byron was the cherished son of Warren R. Garrett and the late Carolyn E. Cooper nee McClain. His life was a tapestry of resilience, warmth, and creativity that touched many hearts. Raised in Harrisburg, Byron completed his education at John Harris High School, graduating in 1987. He spent many of his formative years basking in the vibrant summers of Baltimore, forging bonds that would endure a lifetime.
Byron's professional life was marked by his dedicated service as a security guard at Harrisburg Hospital, where he was known not just for his diligent work but also for his compassionate nature. His quick wit and warm smile were a beacon of joy to colleagues and visitors alike.
A man of deep faith, Byron dedicated his life to Jehovah and was a baptized member of the Mt. Pleasant Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he found great joy in the fellowship and community it provided.
Byron's life was enriched by his passions, chief among them his love for writing. He was a gifted poet, pouring his heart into his book of poems, "Songs From the Heart: Melodies of the Soul," a touching tribute to his beloved mother. Music was another of Byron's joys, a constant companion that fueled his creativity and uplifted his spirit. His fondness for dining and camaraderie with friends spoke to his love of life and the simple pleasures it offered.
Byron's legacy is carried forward by his father Warren Garrett, Sr. (Elsie); his sister Lark Daniel; his brother Warren Garrett, Jr.; his cherished nieces Amani and Cehzia; nephews Jarrell and Sa'vyon; his uncle Larry "Mickey" Boulware; former wife Tracey Harrington; and a host of cousins and friends. Though he did not have children of his own, his influence as a beloved uncle and friend was profound and enduring.
A service to honor Byron's life will be held on July 18th, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 43331 Rodkey Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have shown their love and support through thoughts, visits, prayers, and acts of kindness during this difficult time. May Jehovah bless each of you for your compassion and generosity.
