It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Burton Manning, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on June 13, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on March 17, 1945, in sunny Miami, Florida, Burton was a beacon of warmth and generosity, whose life was one of service, joy, and profound kindness. Burton was the cherished son of the late Burton and Jeannette Chute Manning, who instilled in him the values of compassion and integrity. He was preceded in death by his dear sister, Elizabeth Manning, but is survived by a loving family who will carry on his legacy of love and devotion. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Sharon, whose partnership was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Burton's spirit lives on in his siblings: Jeannette Manning (John Fox), Sarah Tanksley (Bill), and Robert Manning (Ann), all of whom shared a lifetime of cherished memories and unwavering support. Burton was a proud graduate of Newnan High School, where he built the foundation for a life of learning and growth. He was a committed patriot, serving his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to civilian life, Burton dedicated his career to the tax assessment field, where his meticulous nature and fairness earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. An active member of American Legion Post 127, Burton found camaraderie and purpose in the fellowship of veterans, always ready to lend a hand or share a story. His generosity extended beyond his professional life; he was known for his willingness to help others, offering support and kindness wherever he went. Burton's love for the outdoors was unmatched, and he found peace and happiness in the embrace of nature. Whether it was a day spent boating on tranquil waters or a weekend camping under the stars with family and friends, Burton cherished the simple joys of life. A devoted family man, Burton's greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters: Rev. Dr. Claire Manning Ripley (Todd), Ashley Manning Merrill (Searing), Marlene Desprez Sheppard (Brendan), Michelle Desprez Ignacio, and Jessica Marie Camp. His legacy continues through his eight beloved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. In honoring Burton's life, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing family and close friends to reflect on his remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Burton's memory are encouraged to make a donation to the American Heart Association, an organization close to his heart. Burton Manning's life was a testament to love, service, and the joy of giving. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his spirit find eternal peace, as he sails into the serene waters of eternity, forever in our hearts.
