Thelma "Bunnie" Buchheit

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bunnie, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on July 21, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on April 9, 1939, in charming Charleston, South Carolina, Bunnie was the cherished daughter of Thelma G. Scarborough and Hallie Spencer Scarborough. Bunnie was a devoted wife to Ronald Buccheit, sharing 26 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter and love. Her family was her greatest joy, and she leaves behind a legacy through her son, Edward L. Clark, III, affectionately known as "Crockett," and his wife Georgia, and her daughter, Theresa Clements, and her husband Kyle. Bunnie was the proud grandmother of Matthew Clark, Jonathan Witt, Spencer Witt, and Morgan Peterson, and she adored her many great-grandchildren who brought her endless happiness. A woman of many talents and passions, Bunnie dedicated her professional life to the Lee County Tax Collector in Florida, where she made a lasting impact before enjoying a well-earned retirement. Her love for Mickey Mouse and Elvis was as vibrant as her spirit, and she found immense joy in dancing and being surrounded by people throughout her life. Bunnie's warmth and enthusiasm were truly infectious. Bunnie was a committed member of the Eastern Star, where she found community and purpose among fellow members. Her presence there, as in all aspects of her life, was characterized by her kindness and dedication. She was predeceased by her parents, Thelma Muckenfuss and Hallie Scarborough, and her grandson, Keely E. Witt. Bunnie's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice staff for their compassionate care and support during her final journey. A service to honor and celebrate Bunnie's remarkable life will be held on July 25, 2026, at St. Mark United Methodist Church, located at 413 Geddess Ave., Charleston, SC 29407. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bunnie's memory to the American Cancer Society, a cause she deeply cared about, based in Atlanta, GA. Bunnie will be remembered for her generous spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her boundless zest for life. She touched the hearts of all who knew her and will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the stories shared and the love she imparted to those around her.
