Bryan Terrell Johnson

March 23, 1972 — April 25, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bryan Terrell Johnson, affectionately known as "BJ," who departed this world on April 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born on March 23, 1972, in Houston, Texas, BJ was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him. BJ was the cherished son of James Johnson Jr. and Sherron Roberts, who nurtured him into the remarkable man he became. He shared an unbreakable bond with his beloved siblings, James Johnson III, Jarhett Johnson, and D'Andra Johnson. His grandmother, Lois Roberts, held a special place in his heart, and he was the adored uncle and friend to countless family members and friends, including Brion Smith. A proud alumnus of Langham Creek High School, BJ was not only an academic achiever but also a talented athlete, playing both football and basketball for the Lobos. His love for sports extended beyond the field, as he was a steadfast and passionate fan of the San Francisco 49ers. His loyalty to the team was only rivaled by his loyalty to those he loved. In 2001, BJ embarked on a new chapter of life, sharing 24 beautiful years of marriage until 2025, a testament to his enduring dedication and love. His kind-hearted nature and unwavering loyalty made him a pillar of strength and reliability for everyone around him. BJ's big smile and unmistakable voice were his trademarks, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. BJ's life will be celebrated on May 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St James Missionary Baptist Church, located at 5546 Teague Rd. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Calvin Smith and the congregation of St James Missionary Baptist Church for their unwavering support and love during this difficult time. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to everyone who played a part in BJ's life. There are too many wonderful individuals to name individually, but please know that you meant the world to him and to us. As we gather to honor BJ's life, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives, the laughter he inspired, and the love he shared so generously. May his spirit continue to guide and protect us, as he watches over us with that same big smile we have all come to cherish. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to cherish their loved ones and hold them a little closer, just as BJ always did. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that he is at peace and will forever remain in our hearts.
