It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bruce Barrick, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bruce departed this world on April 11, 2026, at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's and dementia. He was 79 years old. Born on June 18, 1946, in Toronto to Frank and Ishbel Barrick, Bruce was a beacon of kindness, intelligence, and humor. He was raised with the values of hard work and integrity, which he carried throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bruce's career was marked by 34 successful years at Deloitte, where he served as a highly respected partner, specializing in computer security. His dedication and expertise were instrumental in shaping the field, and his colleagues admired him not only for his professional acumen but also for his unwavering kindness and mentorship. Beyond his professional life, Bruce was a man of many passions. Growing up in Victoria, BC, he developed a love for fishing alongside his father. This lifelong hobby became a cherished tradition, which he lovingly passed on to his son, Michael. Bruce's joy in fishing was not just in the catch, but in the tranquility of nature and the precious time spent with loved ones. Bruce was a devoted member of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke, where he contributed to numerous community projects and made lifelong friendships. His commitment to service resonated deeply, and his impact will be felt for generations. Together with his cherished wife, Diane, Bruce explored the world, visiting diverse countries and soaking in the rich tapestry of cultures. Their travels were filled with adventure, laughter, and love, creating memories that will forever be treasured. Bruce leaves behind a family who adored him: his devoted wife, Diane; his son, Michael Barrick; stepsons Peter and Scott Buchanan; and his treasured grandchildren, Zachary, Jeremy, Jacob, Alexandra, and Lily Buchanan. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Irene Pitt, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry his spirit and legacy forward. Bruce's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital for their compassionate and gentle end-of-life care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sleeping Children Around the World, an organization close to Bruce's heart, at info@scaw.org. As we say goodbye to Bruce, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of love, laughter, and service. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide us and inspire us every day. He was an extraordinary man who touched the lives of many, and he will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
