It is with profound sadness and yet a heart full of gratitude for having shared in his remarkable journey, that we announce the passing of our beloved Roy "Brother" Davis. Born on March 7, 1950, in Cheraw, South Carolina, Roy journeyed peacefully to his eternal rest at home on May 5, 2026, surrounded by the love that he cherished and fostered throughout his life. Roy was the cherished son of the late Paul and Louvenia Davis, who instilled in him the values of hard work, dedication, and family loyalty. He joins them now in eternal peace, alongside his predeceased grand daughter Adrinna Perez, his brothers, Paul Albert, Charles, Ronald, and Darryl, who have paved the way for him in the hereafter. Educated through the New York City Public Schools Systems, Roy was a man of many talents and interests. Though he was drafted, a family exemption allowed him to pursue his path outside of military service. His early career was a tapestry of diverse experiences, from working in the family business to thriving as a messenger. With an innate knack for fixing things, Roy opened a repair shop, dedicating himself to servicing televisions and radios. When life's storms claimed his business, he transitioned with resilience to a career as a cook at a resident/nursing facility, where he brought warmth and nourishment to those in need. Roy was a man of faith, with roots in the Hudson Temple Church Of God In Christ. As he matured, his faith journey saw him visiting various churches, always supporting family members who were called to pastoral roles. He was a man who loved to tinker, a quality that mirrored his approach to life—always fixing, always nurturing. Roy's life was a testament to the power of family. He leaves behind three devoted daughters, Mary Ann Davis, Pat Simms Sapp, and Mary Simms, who will continue his legacy of love and resilience. His memory will also be cherished by his six grandchildren, including the adoring William, Mahkylah, Brianna, Kiyanna, Keyanni, Zaire who will carry forth his spirit. Among his surviving family are his ten siblings: brothers Alvin, Jerome (Pamela), Donald, Dexter, and LaShawn (Chereece); and sisters Vivian, Sheila (Wendell), Louvenia (Johnny), Jerline, and Monique. A host of nephews, nieces, and friends will forever cherish the moments they shared with him. Known for his candid expressions, Roy's mantra, "nah, nah, just leave it alone," was a testament to his straightforward approach to life's challenges. His presence was a comfort, his words a guide, and his love a sanctuary for all who knew him. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to his home attendants, mainly Wislene and all who cared for Roy during his life’s challenging times. In the spirit of Roy's life, we reflect on the words of Sai Baba: "Life is a song—sing it. Life is a game—play it. Life is a challenge—meet it. Life is a dream—realize it. Life is a sacrifice—offer it. Life is love—enjoy it." A celebration of Roy's life will be held on May 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Grace Funeral Chapel, located at 607 N. Conduit Blvd., Brooklyn, New York 11208. As we gather to honor his memory, we take solace in the words of Psalm 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Rest in peace, dear Roy. Your life was a beautiful melody that will continue to play in our hearts forever.
