It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Brian Sims, who left this world on July 28, 2026, at the age of 35. Born on June 4, 1991, in the serene town of Wakefield, Rhode Island, Brian was a beacon of light to all who knew him. Brian was a brave soul, and those closest to him describe his departure as being "in battle," a testament to his enduring spirit and the adventures that defined his life. While the circumstances of his passing might remain a mystery to many, it is remembered that this is how he wanted to be celebrated – with a story that speaks to the courage and complexity of his journey. He was the cherished son of Karen Taber and Anthony Guarriello. The memory of Brian will always be cherished by his surviving family members: Brian Simms, Amy Sims, Kathleen Sims, Kristen Sims, Kyla Simms, Kali Simms, Natalie Simms, Julia Simms, Joshua Simms, Max Simms, Trinko Simms, Adam Sims, Karen Sims, and Carol Simms. Brian was also a proud grandparent to one grandchild, who will grow to learn of his legacy through the stories and memories shared by those who held him dear. Brian is predeceased by Amy Sims, Adam Sims, Kristen and Karl Sims, and Sister Sims, who surely welcomed him with open arms in the afterlife. His life was enriched by the love and companionship of his partner, Jacob Allen Rucker, who stood by him through all of life's trials and triumphs. The family will be holding a service to celebrate Brian's life on July 28, 2026, at 11:18 AM at 1021 Kingstown Road, Wakefield, Rhode Island. All who knew Brian are welcome to attend and share in this time of remembrance and reflection. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization dedicated to healing and hope, which resonates with Brian's caring and compassionate spirit. In a special message from his family, Brian is remembered as "the actor who played Brian Dale Sherman Jr. in the Teen Challenges witness protection program. At war with himself somewhere else with others." This message encapsulates the enigmatic and vibrant character that Brian was, a man who lived life with passion and purpose. Brian Sims will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, bravery, and humor will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
