We gather to celebrate and remember the life of Brian Jeffrey Poindexter, a beloved son, brother, fiancé, uncle, and friend, who peacefully departed this world at his home on May 27, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on March 26, 1967, in Chicago Heights, IL, Brian was the cherished son of Bill and Betty Poindexter, who nurtured him into the remarkable man he became. Brian’s early life in Chicago Heights was filled with laughter and love, surrounded by the warmth of his family. His father, Billy Joe Poindexter, and grandparents, Joe and Thelma Poindexter, and James and Esther Newman, predeceased him, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that Brian carried forward with grace and dedication. Brian's academic journey took him to Acadiana High School, where he graduated in 1985. An avid learner with a keen intellect, he pursued higher education at Loyola University, earning a Master’s degree in Biology and Chemistry. His profound knowledge and passion for science led him to a fulfilling career in medical research at the University of Texas at Houston, where his contributions were immortalized through numerous published medical articles. Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Brian was a man of many passions. He found joy on the golf course, shared his culinary talents by crafting delicious Cajun dishes, and explored the world through his love of travel. Music was a constant companion in Brian's life, whether he was listening to his favorite tunes, playing guitar with his best friends, or simply enjoying the rhythm of life. A devoted sports enthusiast, he was just as happy watching a game as he was participating in one. Brian’s heart was as expansive as his interests. He was known for his kindness, always ready with a smile and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His home was a haven of warmth and welcome, a testament to his generous spirit. An amazing son to Betty Poindexter, a supportive brother to Alison Poindexter Seal and brother-in-law to Gary, and a doting uncle to Nicholas Seal, his love for his family was boundless. Brian shared many beautiful years with his fiancée, Angie Venable Redrick, building a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their connection was a testament to his capacity for love and companionship. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Brian’s life and legacy on June 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Cypress Funeral Home, located at 206 W Lafayette Street, Maurice, LA. As we honor his memory, we find solace in the love he shared and the lives he touched. Though Brian has left us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and joy—a testament to a life well-lived. May we carry forward the lessons he taught us, cherishing the memories we shared, and finding comfort in the knowledge that he is at peace.
