Brian Jakub

February 5, 1966 — June 14, 2026

Brian Jakub, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on February 5, 1966, in David City, NE, Brian's life was a testament to devotion, hard work, and the love of family and community. He was the cherished son of Harriet Jakub and the late Rudolph Jakub Jr. Growing up in a family rooted deeply in the values of farm life, Brian's early years were spent in the embrace of the Nebraska countryside. He graduated from East Butler High School in 1984, after which he pursued studies at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. His formative years included serving his country with honor in the Army National Guard from 1985 to 1997, where he excelled as an M-1 Abrams tank crewman and commander, embodying courage and leadership. On November 20, 1986, Brian married the love of his life, Veronica "Roni" Ladegard, in a beautiful ceremony at Holy Trinity Church in Brainard, NE. Their partnership was one of mutual support and shared dreams, raising five wonderful children: Nathan, Lauren, Spencer & Katerina, Nolan, and Kael. Together, Brian and Roni created a family legacy that continues to thrive through their five cherished grandchildren: Scarlett, Pryor, Marija, Flannery, and Johanna. Brian dedicated much of his life to the family farm in Bruno, where he worked alongside his family full-time and part-time. His career path also led him to roles at Cushman in Lincoln, Case IH in Wahoo, and John Deere in Waterly. In 1997, he pursued his passion for farming further at the Dawson Farm & Ranch in Linwood with his brother Lyle and father. Later, in 2014, he embarked on a new chapter in David City, working at Lagoon Pumping & Dredging in Columbus, NE, and managing apartment properties in Lincoln with Roni. A man of deep faith, Brian was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and participated in numerous church organizations, including the Renovation Committee at St. Peter & Paul Church in Abie, NE. His commitment to his community and faith was unwavering. Brian's intellectual curiosity was boundless. His fascination with physics and the universe led him to explore the profound mysteries of quantum mechanics and gravity. Yet, he was equally at home on the dance floor, joyfully engaging in country line dancing with Roni and their friends. Above all, Brian treasured the moments spent with his grandchildren, delighting in their laughter and curiosity. His warmth, generosity, and keen sense of humor left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Brian is survived by his loving wife Roni, his devoted mother Harriet, his five children, and his beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Leah and Bruce Policky, Lyle and Pam Jakub, and Craig & Kari Jakub, who will all miss him dearly. Brian Jakub lived a life full of love, dedication, and service. His spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of his family and friends, and his legacy will be remembered for generations to come. May he rest in peace, reunited with his father, Rudolph, in the gentle embrace of eternity.
