Brian Jackson, Sr.

Brian Jackson, Sr., a man of warmth and kindness, was born on February 3, 1961, and raised in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, to his beloved parents, Logan Sr. and Brenda Ann Jackson. From a young age, Brian displayed a remarkable ability to make those around him feel welcome and cherished, a gift that he carried with him throughout his life. Brian attended the Percy L. Julian High School, marking the beginning of a journey that would be defined by dedication and an unwavering commitment to both his family and his career. In 1999, he met Martis Green, his partner in life and love, with whom he shared 27 wonderful years. As the owner and head chef for BJ's Kitchen in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Brian was known not only for his culinary skills, but also for his ability to foster a sense of community among his colleagues and patrons. His kitchen was a place, where laughter was shared and friendships were forged, and his legacy will live on in the countless meals that brought people together. Brian's family was the cornerstone of his world. He was a devoted grandfather to 14 beautiful grandchildren, and his love for them was evident in every moment he spent with them. He leaves behind a family that includes his devoted companion and best friend, Martis Green, a brother, Logan (Falisha) Jackson, Jr; four sisters, Andrea (Byron) Jackson, Karen (Kevin) Goggins, Mary (David) Milsap, Angelete (Terrence) Troope; his children, Brian (Jasmin) Jackson, Jr., Brittani Jackson, Devon Carter, DeShaun (Tia) Carter, DeShonda Carter, DePaul Carter, and Emmanuel Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, who were touched by his kindness and generosity. Though he was predeceased by his parents, Logan and Brenda Ann Jackson, Sr., Brian's memory will continue to inspire those, who knew him. A service to honor Brian's life will take place at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 Old Birmingham Hwy, Tuscaloosa, AL. The family invites all who knew him to join in celebrating a life well-lived. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be available via live stream. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests contributions be made in Brian's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting Brian's spirit of giving and kindness.

Seven days after his birthday, Our lives changed forever. Although he was technically still here, things were never the same. God found it fit, to allow one last meeting of the minds. And, for that, we can only be grateful. Not all gifts are wrapped in plastic. Some of the best gifts are wrapped in Gratitude. A lot of things could've been said, if we knew this was the last time. See, that’s the thing about life, it’s filled with the unexpected. Now, we're left with the memories and the emotions. But, what do they tell us? Real men don't cry? Wrong! Real men, do cry. When I can feel you, but I can't speak to you. And, when I can still see you, but I know you're hurting. And, when I need you, you can't come to the phone. And, when I miss you, I can't let you know. And, when your favorite holiday comes, we can't Pop firecrackers. And ,when to know you, was to love you. And, when you taught me everything I know and I can't tell you, "Thank you!" I'm left with the tears, that fall. When I think about our last hug, our last celebration, our last conversation and the things you taught me, my last hope is that I can be everything you were to me, to my children, so before you go, just let me say "Thank you, Dad...for everything!"
