Brian Conley Scott, a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and talented chef, departed this life on June 27, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on July 22, 1975, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Earl Fredericks and Joyce Ann Scott, Brian brought warmth, laughter, and incredible flavor to the world around him. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Earl Fredericks, and his sister, Darnella Dickey.
Brian’s foundation of faith was laid early in life when he was baptized at Abyssinian Baptist Church under the leadership and spiritual guidance of the late Rev. Conley J. Scott, his grandfather. He carried a deep love for the Lord with him throughout his life's journey.
A proud graduate of Princeton High School, Brian followed his passion for the culinary arts by attending culinary school. Affectionately known to many as "Chef B," his extraordinary talent in the kitchen allowed him to cook for several celebrities and establish himself as a passionate entrepreneur at various times in his life. When he wasn't creating masterpieces in the kitchen, Brian loved to travel and explore the world.
Above all, Brian loved his family fiercely—especially his mother, who held a very special place in his heart. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, he brought joy to every room he entered. He was a devoted father and grandfather who deeply loved his two daughters and adored his granddaughter.
Brian leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted mother, Joyce Ann Scott, and his beloved daughters, Jala Nicole Scott-Rutherford and Briana L. Scott-Johnson of Dallas, Texas. His legacy lives on through his adored granddaughter, Rylan J. Scott-Rutherford. He is also survived by his brothers, Earl Ball of Akron, Ohio, William Lewis, and Earl Frederick, Jr., and his sister, Earlynn Fredericks. His memory will be fondly kept by his nephews, Elijah Fredericks (Cara), Isaiah Fredericks, and Jordan Fredericks; his niece, La’Leia Lewis; and his great-nephew, Carson Fredericks. Brian held a deep affection for his aunts and uncles, and he loved all of his cousins like sisters and brothers.
Brian’s vibrant spirit, laughter, and kindness will be cherished and carried forward by a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
