Brent Chamlee

Brent Chamlee, a beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Friend, passed away with courage and belief on Mon, August 10, 2026, after facing many health challenges. Born on April 11, in Chattanooga, Tenn, Brent was the son of Helen Steele Powell and Fred Chamlee, raised by his Step-Father, Bill Powell, and an Uncle. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Chamlee, and many immediate family members. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Patricia Padgett Chamlee, with whom he shared 45 adventurous fun filled years, along with a large host of family members. Brent's journey through life was marked by his insatiable thirst for knowledge and an unwavering drive to succeed. He grew up in Miami, where he earned his GED in 1961 at the encouragement of his Stepfather, who enrolled him in school to ensure he received his diploma. This educational foundation was just the beginning for Brent, who eagerly embraced every learning opportunity, particularly during his long and distinguished career with Southern Bell, AT&T, and Bell South. From a young age, Brent was industrious and resourceful. At just ten years old, he worked at the Baseball Stadium, selling cold drinks to fans. His early years were filled with odd jobs, a passion for building and rebuilding model cars, and a love for motorcycles and cars that would stay with him throughout his life. As a teenager, he and a friend pooled their lunch money to fuel a '39 Plymouth for cruising adventures. Brent's dedication to provide for his Son, Scott, was evident as he worked 2 jobs for many years. He quickly realized the importance of stable employment and worked tirelessly at McArthur's Dairy, alongside his stepfather and uncle, as well as a Baggage Handler at the Miami Int’l Airport. He soon challenged himself for better opportunities as he began his career with Miami Southern Bell which eventually took him to Illinois and back to Miami before settling in Atlanta in the mid ‘70’s, with Southern Bell/AT&T/Bell South, retiring after 33 years. Brent's love for automobiles was a lifelong passion. He owned and traded cars every 18 months or so, with a collection that included Mustangs, Corvettes, ‘34 Chevy, Ford Torino, Customized Vans, Datsun Sports Cars (260 & 280 Zs), Motorcycles of all makes until he settled for his best one … Harley-Davidson Softail Custom. His mechanical skills were legendary; he once completely disassembled his wife's Harley and rebuilt it, replacing every piece possible with chrome(and he kept it shining too). While there seemed to be nothing he couldn't do, he humorously discovered that wood chopping was not his forte, as Patricia's father quickly reclaimed the axe. A lifetime member of the National Street Rod Association (NSRA), Harley Owners Group (HOG), the USS Alabama Associate Member, and a Member of the Sawnee Electric CATF, along with others. His hobbies and interests spanned a wide array of areas …. motorcycles, street rods, classic cars, exotics, mowing the many acres of grass, chauffeur for his wife’s many adventures …all reflecting on his adventurous spirit and zest for life. Brent was celebrated for causing constant laughs among family and friends, his quick wit, generosity, and ability to retain vast amounts of information — shared in his many stories. He loved family gatherings at the Chamlee Barn or with family/friends at fast food Restaurants, assisting his wife with Car Show and Cruz Ins, and planning his many trips via truck or m/cycle across country to Bend Oregon, meeting up with his Brother, Wayne Ross (adopted by choice). Brent was always ready to lend a helping hand or advice to others. His vibrant personality and warm heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. A service to honor Brent's remarkable life will be held on August 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Ingram Funeral Home, located at 210 Ingram Way, Cumming, Georgia. In lieu of blooming flowers and in memory of Brent and Great Niece, (Sydney Ridings), Patricia kindly requests a green plant or donations be made to the Rally Foundation (Childhood Cancer Foundation), 5775 Glenridge Dr, Bldg B, Suite 370 Atlanta, GA 30328. Patricia extends her heartfelt gratitude to Ingram Funeral Home, especially Chris, for their support and compassion. She also wishes to thank everyone who reached out over the past few months, offering help, love, meals, assistance, compassion, sharing your memories of/with Brent, the many, many uplifting calls / fbook posts and, in general, your kindness shown … it is truly appreciated. Brent and Patricia were known for their love of conversation and connection with the young and the older generation .. that love is coming back each day helping her face a new life.
