Brenda Steelman Scallions, departed this world peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the age of 80. Born in Brownsville, Tennessee, on March 30, 1946, Brenda was the beloved daughter of Samuel Sylvester and Dorothy Koonce Steelman. Her life was a testament to love, warmth, and devotion to family and friends.
Brenda was united in marriage to the late Kenneth Scallions, with whom she shared many beautiful years of companionship and joy. Together, they built a life filled with memories, laughter, and unconditional love. As a devoted homemaker, Brenda dedicated herself to creating a warm and welcoming home, where her family and friends were always greeted with open arms and a kind heart.
Brenda was the proud and loving mother of two wonderful children, Lisa Smith, who resides with her husband Barry in Jasper, Georgia, and Jim Layne, who lives with his wife Melissa in Alamo, Tennessee. Her legacy continues through her three adoring grandchildren, Brian Scales, Kelsey Perry, and Kylee Epperson, and five treasured great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Family was the cornerstone of Brenda's life and her heart swelled with pride and affection for her surviving siblings, Sammy and Gary Wayne Steelman, and her sister, Patty Vaden. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as dancing, tending to her flower garden, and creating delicious meals in the kitchen. Brenda had a particular fondness for shopping, especially at Walmart, and she enjoyed connecting with friends and family on Facebook.
Her vibrant spirit and unwavering love will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Brenda's life will be celebrated on July 10, 2026, with a funeral service at 11:30 AM at Halls Funeral Home, located at 109 N Church St. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the beautiful life she lived.
