It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Brenda Schmidt on June 3, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Born on February 3, 1961, in Santa Barbara, California, Brenda's life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for those around her. Brenda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Micheal Schmidt, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage beginning in July 1982. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Their partnership was a shining example of mutual respect and unwavering devotion. She was the cherished daughter of the late John Byurnes and is survived by her loving mother, Genyne Byurnes. Brenda's legacy is carried on by her three devoted children: James and his wife Monica with their children Jessie, Nikki, Cody, and Austin; Jason and his wife Mikaela with their son Lincoln; and Lisa with her wife Akesa and their son Gemini. Her sisters, Lynda Moreno, Paula Anderson, and Donna Smith, along with her nieces and nephews Anna Moreno, Alyssa Moreno, Eddie Moreno, Joshua Anderson, Kristen Anderson, and Dave Smith, will continue to celebrate her memory and the joy she brought into their lives. Brenda's two grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Known for her warm smile and big heart, Brenda had an innate ability to care for others, always putting their needs before her own. Her compassion was felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. A true lover of life, Brenda enjoyed weekends spent boating, tending to a garden she and Micheal lovingly cultivated, and capturing the beauty of the world through her lens, as photography was a passion she deeply cherished. In her final days, Brenda was comforted and cared for by dedicated doctors, nurses, and hospice staff, to whom her family extends their deepest gratitude for their compassion and tireless efforts. In accordance with Brenda's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. The family appreciates the understanding and respect for their privacy during this time. Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Brenda Schmidt's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, a reminder of the love and kindness she brought into the world. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love will remain with us forever.
