In Loving Memory of Brenda Joyce Nicholson-Morris June 25, 1941 – August 4, 2026 With Godly Joy, yet with grateful hearts for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Brenda Joyce Nicholson-Morris, who entered eternal rest on August 4, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on June 25, 1941, in Durham, North Carolina, Brenda lived a life defined by faith, love, and compassion. She touched countless lives with her resolute spirit, loving heart, and unwavering commitment to God, and family. Education Brenda valued education from an early age and believed it was one of life’s greatest gifts. She graduated from Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina, as a proud member of the Class of 1959. She continued her academic journey at Winston-Salem State Teachers College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Teacher Certification as a member of the Class of 1964. The knowledge and values she gained became the foundation for a lifetime of educating, mentoring, and inspiring generations of students and family. Career and Service Brenda devoted her professional life to education. She began her teaching career with Durham Public Schools and later continued serving students in the St. Louis County School District. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to become Assistant Superintendent for the Epworth Daycare System. After a distinguished career, she retired from education, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and dedication. Her outstanding work was recognized with the honorable distinction of Teacher of the Year, reflecting the admiration and respect she earned from students, parents, and colleagues alike. A Woman of Faith Above all else, Brenda loved the Lord. She faithfully led her children to Christ and lived each day as an example of Christian love and grace. Throughout her spiritual journey, she worshipped at Fisher’s Memorial, Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, New Northside Baptist Church, Abundant Life Fellowship, Cathedral of His Glory, where she faithfully served as a Deaconess, and finally Love & Faith Christian Fellowship. Her faith extended beyond the walls of the church. She was a faithful prayer warrior, a devoted student of God’s Word, and a consistent, cheerful giver who generously supported numerous ministries dedicated to spreading the Gospel. Her greatest ministry, however, was within her own home, where she lovingly led her children and grandchildren to know and follow Jesus Christ.
