In Loving Memory

Brenda Lane McBee
June 18, 1941 — April 1, 2026
Brenda Lane McBee age 84, departed this world on April 1, 2026, at her cherished home in Connersville, Kentucky, after a brief battle with cancer. Brenda was born on June 18, 1941, in Harrison County, Kentucky, to her parents Gilbert "Gip" McBee and Gladys Middleton McBee-Havilandt, who preceded her in death. Her early years were marked by the love and support of her family, especially her paternal grandparents the late Jim Frank & Tilda Abby McBee, and her stepfather, Ben Havilandt. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Willie & Lyda Middleton.
Brenda was a proud 1959 graduate of Harrison County High School. Upon graduation she embarked on a long and fulfilling career at Square D Co. in Lexington, KY, where she was not just an employee but a valued friend and colleague to many of her coworkers until her retirement.
As a young girl Brenda became a member of the Connersville Christian Church.
Her heart was as expansive as her spirit, especially when it came to her love for animals. An avid crocheter, Brenda's hands were rarely idle, crafting beautiful afghans that she generously gifted to family and friends. Yet, it was her tender care and love for her feline companions that truly defined her nurturing soul. Never one to turn away a stray, Brenda opened her home and heart to countless cats.
Brenda's legacy of love and kindness lives on through her surviving family members: her devoted partner & best friend, Carlos Sloan of Connersville, KY; her brother, Gary T. McBee and his wife Lois Palmer McBee of Franklin, TN; her nephew, Gary LaMar McBee of Franklin, TN; and her niece, Traci McBee Antoque of Franklin, TN., as well as numerous cousins.
In honor of Brenda's enduring love for animals, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Harrison County Humane Society or the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers. These contributions will continue her legacy of compassion and care for the creatures she so dearly cherished.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Earl Robbins and the dedicated staff at Harrison Memorial Hospital, as well as the compassionate team of nurses at Bluegrass Care Navigators. A special thank you to her cousin Bu Hicks for her love and much needed support during her brief illness, her neighbor Edith Fultz for her unwavering support and friendship during Brenda's final days, and her cousin Denise Marshall for providing food.
Brenda Lane McBee will forever be remembered and sorely missed, but her spirit lives on in the love she so freely gave and the lives she so profoundly touched. Per Brenda's wish she will be cremated. Her inurnment will be within the columbarium at Battle Grove Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at the columbarium behind the meditation building beginning at a later date & time at the convenience of the family.
