Brenda JoyceAnn McCloud

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda JoyceAnn McCloud, who left this world peacefully at her home on August 2, 2026. Born on July 10, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Brenda was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of the late Robert E. and Esther Whitfield, and sister to her predeceased brothers, Robert E. Whitfield III and Jeffery A. Whitfield. Brenda's life was richly blessed with a loving family. She was married to Earl N. McCloud Sr., and together they were the proud parents of three wonderful children. Brenda was predeceased by her daughter, Chiquita McCrutchen, and her son, Earl Jr. McCloud. She is survived by her dedicated son, John R. McCloud, her cherished grandchildren, Brendan McCrutchen and Dynasty McCloud, as well as her sisters, Debra Vance and Robin Whitfield. Brenda was also a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. Brenda was a product of Indianapolis public schools, having attended both elementary and secondary institutions in the area. She was a proud graduate of Crispus Attucks High School, class of 1966. Her dedication to hard work and perseverance shone throughout her 34-year career as an apprentice at General Motors Truck and Bus at the GM plant in Indianapolis. A devoted member of the New Bethel Baptist Church for many years, Brenda's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her hobbies were many and varied, including baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and a profound love for reading. Brenda was known far and wide for her lively personality and her candid, tell-it-like-it-is attitude. Her honesty and authenticity made a lasting impression on everyone she met, and her vibrant spirit will be fondly remembered by all. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Brenda’s life on August 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Lavenia and Summers Home for Funerals, located at 5811 East 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46218. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Brenda's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
