It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Horsley Unger, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend to many. Brenda passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born on November 1, 1953, in Virginia, to her loving parents, the late William Stanley Horsley and Margaret Utley Horsley, and she carried their legacy of kindness and strength throughout her life.
Brenda was a beacon of love and compassion, dedicating her life to her family and her community. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marcia Collins, who was her pride and joy, and her four adored grandchildren: Kaitlyn Harper, and her husband Brandon, Macy Collins, Nathan Collins, and Zachary Collins. Brenda's life was further enriched by her five great-grandchildren: Reilly Harper, Emerson McDowell, Stanley McDowell, Remy McDowell, and Paradise Blackwell, who brought her immense joy and laughter.
For many years, Brenda worked diligently as an insurance underwriter at Hanover Insurance, where she was respected for her unwavering dedication and expertise. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Brenda was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she found a profound sense of community and spiritual fulfillment. Her love for church was evident in her active participation in the choir, where her voice was a source of inspiration and peace for many.
Brenda's life will be celebrated on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, located at 5200 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman whose spirit touched all who knew her. In honoring Brenda’s memory, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Women's Ministry, which was dear to her heart.
