June 2, 1949 – June 9, 2026 It is with profound sadness and yet a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Brenda Covington West, who departed this earthly realm on June 9, 2026, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brenda passed away surrounded by the love of her family and the grace of her unwavering faith. Born on June 2, 1949, in Morristown, NJ, Brenda was the cherished daughter of Walter and Bertha (Humpfrey) Covington. She was a beacon of strength and independence, traits instilled in her from a young age by her beloved parents. Brenda was preceded in death by her dear sister Roxanne Covington, her parents, her ex-husband Sidney West, her brother Dennis Covington, and sister Bonita Denise Covington. Each left an indelible mark on her heart and her journey through life. Brenda’s zest for life was evident in every role she undertook, whether as a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant or a loyal employee at Injectron. Her nurturing spirit and commitment to care were hallmarks of her professional life, as she tended to the needs of others with compassion and kindness. A proud alumna of Morristown High School, Brenda carved out a career that allowed her to touch countless lives, offering comfort and care to those in need. Her work was not just a job, but a calling, one that she embraced wholeheartedly. Brenda was a cherished member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she found solace, community, and the joy of fellowship. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through trials and triumphs alike. Brenda’s love for her family and friends was a testament to her generous spirit and her ability to bring warmth and laughter to any gathering. Her legacy is carried on by her surviving family members, including her cousin June Covington, her niece Stacey L. White, her nephews Jermaine Franklin and Jason Nichols, her niece Sierra Johnson, and a vast array of other relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness and unwavering spirit. Brenda’s fierce independence and determination to live life on her own terms were qualities admired by all who knew her. Her resilience and tenacity were matched only by her deep compassion for others, making her a beloved figure in her community and beyond. A service in Brenda’s honor will be held on June 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Blackwell Funeral Home, located at 143 Third Avenue, Yanceyville, NC 27379. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Brenda’s life and the profound impact she had on those around her. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sovah Health in Danville, VA, for their dedicated care during Brenda’s time of need, and to the compassionate team at Blackwell Funeral Home. We also wish to express our deepest appreciation to all who gather to remember Brenda today, and to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the comfort and peace provided.
