June 4, 1961 — September 24, 2026

In loving memory of Brenda Ann Sjoden, born on June 4, 1961, in the charming town of Leadville, Colorado, who peacefully departed this world on September 24, 2026, surrounded by love and care at home. Brenda was a beacon of joy, humor, and warmth to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Brenda was the beloved daughter of the late Beulah Marie and William "Bill" Eric Sjoden and the sister of the late Selena Marie Sjoden. She is survived by her devoted siblings: Cassandra (Earl) Ohl, Chris (Angie) Sjoden, Sabrina Sjoden, and Catrina (Mark) Willis. Her legacy of love and laughter continues through her nieces and nephews: Ashley McDowell, Cambria McDowell, Kimberly Vreeland, McKenna Reiher, Braden Sjoden, Presley Epling, Cheyenne Blay, Trenton Blay, and her 6 great-nephews. Brenda's life was enriched by her life-long best friend, Erin Ahrens, whose unwavering support and companionship meant the world to her. A proud graduate of Lake County High School in 1979, Brenda was an accomplished cheerleader, majorette, clarinetist, dancer, swimmer, lifeguard, actress, and comedian. She was crowned Boom Days queen in 1979 and represented the state of Colorado in the Junior Miss pageant. Her academic journey led her to Colorado Mountain College, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Development. Brenda dedicated 22 years of her career to the United States Postal Service, before transitioning to a successful career as a real estate agent. She later cared for her parents until their passing. Her heart was always open to others, and she found immense joy in sharing her faith as a devout Catholic. Her move to Bosnia, where she welcomed visitors to the Miracle Works of Medjugorje - a Catholic pilgrimage village located in the Southern Herzegovina region of Bosnia, was a testament to her deep spirituality and commitment to her faith. Brenda's vibrant spirit was reflected in her love for dancing, comedy, music, movies, and the great outdoors. She relished moments spent with friends, indulging in Mexican cuisine, anything Elvis Presley, and the joy of helping others. Her gift for humor and her ability to connect with everyone she met left a lasting impression, ensuring that she was never a stranger to anyone. In her final days, Brenda was surrounded by the love and care of Erin and Dave Ahrens and their family in Juneau, Alaska, where she was able to fulfill some of her dreams, including witnessing the majestic beauty of the Aurora Borealis and whale watching. Brenda's siblings express their deepest gratitude to Erin and Dave for their selfless love and support during this time. A memorial service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Shrine of St. Therese, 21425 Glacier Hwy., Juneau, Alaska 99801, or https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-brendas-journey-home-with-erin.
