Brandon Lawson Bailey

Brandon Lawson Bailey, a remarkable young man with a heart full of adventure and an insatiable curiosity for the world around him, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2026. Born on January 7, 2010, in Muncie, Indiana, Brandon was a beacon of light and joy to those who had the privilege of knowing him. Brandon was the beloved son of Derek and Sandy Bailey, and though his time with us was far too short, he left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. Preceded in death by his brothers, Kirk Bailey and Dwayne Davis, his birth mother, Crystal Coffman, and his grandmother, Violet Denney, Brandon is now lovingly reunited with them in peace. An exceptional student at Beacon Online Academy, Brandon was preparing to begin his sophomore year. His passion for learning was evident as he pursued various interests, including attending Ball State University Medic Camp, where he earned certifications in CPR, basic first aid, and suturing techniques. More recently, he spent a transformative month at a camp in North Carolina, honing his skills in blacksmithing, woodworking, and bushcrafting. A true renaissance youth, Brandon's hobbies and interests were wide-ranging and included blacksmithing, woodworking, archery, bushcrafting, fishing, making lures, horseback riding, frisbee golf, and fencing. His artistic spirit shone brightly in his love for creating all sorts of weapons, particularly knives, demonstrating a profound respect for craftsmanship and history. Brandon was a member of several organizations that reflected his diverse interests. He attended Club House Archery in Gaston, IN, where he excelled, achieving an impressive 285 out of 300 points in the IBO's world qualifier event. Recently, he had become a proud new member of the Sons of the American Legion in Yorktown, Indiana. Those who knew Brandon will remember him as an amazingly bright young man with a wealth of knowledge that surpassed his years. His ability to quote historical facts, military equipment details, and defense weapon information was a testament to his survivalist spirit. A voracious reader, he devoured the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy in less than a month, showcasing his love for epic tales and the power of imagination. Above all, Brandon was cherished for his kindness, generosity, creativity, and protective nature towards those he loved. His legacy is one of love, exploration, and a life lived with purpose and passion. A service to honor Brandon's life will be held on August 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Meeks Mortuary, located at 415 East Washington Street, Muncie, IN 47305. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to ARK of Muncie, located on Madison Street, to benefit those in need of clothing. Cash donations can also be made to support the organization's mission. Brandon's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported and comforted them during this unforeseen journey.
