Brandon Aulburn Lawrence "BLESS"
August 15, 1984 — April 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Brandon Aulburn Lawrence, affectionately known as "BLESS," on April 3, 2026 (Good Friday), at his residence in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Born on August 15, 1984, in Dallas, Texas, Brandon graced this world with his infectious smile and boundless spirit for 41 years.
Brandon was the cherished son of Charles and Deborah Lawrence, who, alongside his brother Carlos and grandmother Judith Dejaiffe, survive him. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold his memory close. Preceding him in death were his beloved Great Grandma Isabelle Emeigh and Grandmother Alice E. Lawrence, whose love and guidance shaped his life in immeasurable ways.
From a young age, Brandon exhibited a zest for life and a natural athleticism that saw him excel in various pursuits. He graduated with honors from Altoona Area High School in 2004, where he was one of the top ten competitors in the 2002 Track and Field Decathlon. His exceptional size, speed, and intellect earned him a prestigious scholarship to the University of Richmond, a testament to his dedication and talent. In 2006, Brandon transferred his scholarship to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), where his journey took an unexpected turn, leaving him tragically quadriplegic for the remainder of his life.
Despite the challenges he faced, Brandon's resilience kept him alive as a quadriplegic for 17 years. He worked diligently from the age of 14, contributing to his community through various roles, including landscaping local baseball fields, delivering pizzas, and assisting within the Altoona Area School District. A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Brandon found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing, football and he loved animals.
Brandon's radiant smile and magnetic presence were loved by many, particularly the ladies, and he possessed an innate ability to bring good energy into any room. Later in life, he found solace and strength in his growing faith in Jesus Christ, deeply inspired by the close bond he shared with his grandmother Alice.
A Memorial Service for Brandon will be held on, Saturday, May 16, 2026. Starting at 11:00 a.m. The Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc. is located at 505 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a man who is remembered and loved by many.
The Lawrence family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated nurses and caregivers who went beyond the call of duty to provide Brandon with love and nurturing, forming lifelong friendships along the way. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to his friends, acquaintances, and the Altoona Area Athletic Department for their generous contributions to the funeral arrangements, easing this process immensely.
Brandon's legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life lived with courage, love, and unwavering faith.
