November 11, 1948 — January 1, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brad Brownlee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on January 1, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 11, 1948, in Toronto, Ontario, Brad's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. Brad was predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) and Marion Brownlee, and his brother, Wayne Brownlee. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Johanna, with whom he shared over four decades of marriage since their wedding on September 19, 1981. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Laura, Ryan (married to Aidan), and Leah Moore (married to Wesley), who were the greatest joy in Brad's life. His legacy is further carried on by his cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Rockland, Rosalind, Kai, Asher, and Axel, each of whom brought immense pride and happiness to his heart. Brad's professional journey began in the clothing and footwear industry in Leamington, Ontario, during the 1970s. Simultaneously, he pursued his passion for music, a testament to his multifaceted talents. In 1980, love led Brad to Sarnia, where he became the Executive Director of the Sarnia Downtown Business Improvement Area for 15 years. During this time, he served as President of the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association, leaving a lasting impact on the community. His later career saw him traveling internationally as a business analyst, where he found great fulfillment in working with First Nations communities throughout Southern Ontario, providing entrepreneurship, commercial financing, corporate structuring, and community development services. Brad's dedication to his community was unparalleled. He was a founding member of several key organizations, including the Sarnia Heritage Committee, Celebration of Lights Committee, Sarnia Highland Games, and Sarnia's UNDRIP Working Group. His instrumental role in transforming the Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade into a beloved nighttime event is fondly remembered by all who attended. Beyond his professional and community contributions, Brad was known for his zest for life and love of culinary arts. An avid cook, he delighted in preparing sumptuous feasts for family and friends, always accompanied by the soothing strains of his favorite jazz tunes. His home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and delicious aromas, where memories were lovingly crafted and shared. In accordance with Brad's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life. While he may no longer walk among us, Brad Brownlee's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of love, commitment, and community service will continue to inspire all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Brad's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his lifelong dedication to helping others and making the world a better place. Rest in peace, dear Brad. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
